Panama Canal cruises combine this world-famous waterway with great ports in the Caribbean. Cruise the Panama Canal and see the massive engineering marvel that was built to connect the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Construction on the canal began in 1904 and was completed 10 years and $387 million later. On cruises to the Panama Canal, six immense locks raise the cruise ship from sea level up to 85 feet, then gently lower it --sometimes with only inches to spare on either side. On your Panama Canal cruise, join other passengers on the decks as a canal historian explains the workings of the locks and points out sights along the way.
Partial transits usually sail round-trip from Florida. Ships that cruise the Panama Canal usually go through the first set of locks, then turn around in Gatun Lake and exit the canal the way they entered.

Cartagena's beginnings as a major hub of slave trade in the Americas has had a long-lasting impact on the city's social make-up. Over time it has created a tantalising mix of cultural influences that are manifested in its cuisine and music. Time runs slow on Cartagena's inviting squares, where locals play dominoes while tourists hunt for the perfect shot of the incredibly photogenic 'planenqueras' in the background.
Most tours of the city start with an exploration of Cartagena's incredibly attractive Old Town, soon followed by a dive into Getsemani, the best of city neighbourhoods to watch local life unfold, both before and after dark. San Diego is another area of the city favoured by visitors, in part due to its high number of solid and affordable accommodation options, while the aforementioned Getsemani remains a top nightlife pick for many, given its abundance of bars and dance clubs that offer a great taste of Cartagena's take on pura vida.
Cartagena is heralded as the most attractive urban destination of the Caribbean, and having walked its beautifully preserved colonial streets, there remains little doubt as to why.
Cumbia music fills the air in Cartagena's absurdly beautiful Old Town, while locals enjoy leisurely chats in inviting town squares, street vendors peddle their wares (look out for the incredibly photogenic palenqueras!), and vacationers explore streets lined with well-preserved colonial buildings, their balconies deluged with striking fuchsia-coloured veranera. The first free town in the Americas founded by slave trade escapees — San Basilio de Palenque — is just an hour's drive from here.

Puerto Limon is a busy port city and capital of the Limon province. This Caribbean locale is blanketed with rainforest habitats and full of tropical beauty.
If you are looking for a real glimpse into the daily life and culture of Costa Rica, it is difficult to find a better example than Puerto Limón.
This is a hugely significant city because it is the most important port in the country. It has a long and interesting history dating all the way back to 1502 when Columbus landed at this port while exploring the New World.
The port itself was founded much later, in 1870, and it was used primarily to provide the bananas and grain which were abundant in Costa Rica all across the globe. Nowadays, this city is more famous for its cashews.
Come to Puerto Limón and see the cultural and fascinating sights in one of Costa Rica’s oldest and most prominent cities, right in the Limón province.
Limón, commonly known as Puerto Limón, is a district, the capital city and main hub of Limón Province, as well as of the Limón canton in Costa Rica. It is the seventh largest city in Costa Rica, with a population of over 94,000, and is home to the Afro-Costa Rican community
Limon is largely known for its creole and black population. It has evolved separately from the rest of Costa Rica for many years and so developed its own styles, languages, and ways of life. During the Spanish colonization, Limon was spared because of its extreme temperatures as well as indigenous resistance.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s Private Island
Surrounded by the lush greenery of Central America, guests are treated to a wide range of activities on the 75 acre oasis. The island was developed in partnership with the Belizean government, and local inhabitants own the businesses and work onsite, contributing to the local economy
The weather in Harvest Caye is ideal for cruisers all year long, ranging from the 80s to 90s. December and January tend to have the lowest temperatures of the year, (still high 80s) and the hottest period is between May and October.
January to May are the driest parts of the year; summer and fall tend to be rainier, with October being the peak. Humidity is high during these peak times.
Sea temperatures are similar in pattern to the weather, and it is warm enough to swim all year long.
Key Highlights:
Beach - The island has a 7 acre beach area with plenty of loungers and some palm trees for shade. The far end is rarely crowded with lots of spots available.
Pool – Popular with guests, the 15,000-square foot pool has a swim-up bar and a waterfall. The resort style area is complimentary and includes chairs and umbrellas. The pool is not heated, which is not a big issue given the weather.
Ocean - Harvest Caye allows for access to the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world. There is also a saltwater lagoon that hosts several water activities.
Unlike most other cruise lines' islands, food and drinks are extra, and the ship card cannot be used for payment. Ensure to bring cash and credit cards. Be aware that they don't take American Express, either.
Harvest Caye has eight venues for meals, snacks and drinks. The menus include typical bar food with some touches of the Caribbean with fried plantains and ceviche. Fruity cocktails, rum and beer are all popular drinks, including some local Belizean beer.
Belize is an independent state in northeastern Central America. The climate of Belize is subtropical, moderated by sea breezes along the coast. The average annual temperature is about 26.1° C (about 79° F). A rainy season extends from May to February. Slightly less than half the area of Belize is covered by forests; deciduous trees are found in the north; tropical hardwood trees predominate in the south.
A Caribbean island paradise, Cozumel lies a short distance from Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. Tourism is the main economic engine here: visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, whether taking advantage of world-class snorkeling and scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, or lounging with a drink at one of the island's seaside resorts. Venture outside of touristy downtown Cozumel to discover the island's breathtaking natural beauty. Drive to the island's southern tip to Punta Sur Park, home to some colorful wildlife and one of Cozumel's most spectacular beaches, or head north to the San Gervasio archaeological site, where you'll find ancient Mayan ruins and a wildlife refuge brimming with iguanas. Visit Cozumel in February to experience the island's festive Carnival celebrations, occurring annually the week prior to Mardi Gras. Stunning Cozumel awaits!
A glistening tropical paradise off the coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, the island of Cozumel was once a bustling Mayan community with as many as 10,000 local residents.
Sacred to the Mayan Moon Goddess, Ix Chel, the island and its temples were an important place of pilgrimage for women seeking fertility. The remnants of that once thriving civilization can still be seen today in the small ruins of San Gervasio in the island’s forested interior.
Flash forward 2,000 years, and today Cozumel is an exciting tourist destination that holds a special place in our hearts.
With two very different sides to the beautiful island, one can access all the modern amenities around its main town of San Miguel, and yet still find numerous places on the far side of the island to get away from it all.
The island of Cozumel is located just off the east coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and is directly across the water from Playa Del Carmen and about an hour and a half from the Cancun airport.
Located on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef (the second-largest coral reef system in the world), Cozumel is an incredible spot for turquoise Caribbean waters, white sand beaches, and world-class diving and snorkeling. This is DEFINITELY the Island Life!
